Archie

Archie is a 14 year old gelding that has been used for all aspects of ranch work. He stands about 15’1 hands and is just the right thickness. Archie is one of our go to horses around the ranch when a job has to get done. He is everyone’s first pick to ride. If you are looking for an all-around horse, from a ranch horse, to a jackpot horse, or just heading out on the trail, long or short, here he is! Archie has absolutely no vices. He’s a horse the whole family can ride and enjoy.
He has been used extensively in a community pasture over the years and on the ranch. Archie has been used to rope bulls, cows, yearlings, and calves. He is strong on the horn. He has been one man doctored off of, he’s solid and knows his job. You can sneak loop off him or run a critter down if need be. Arch has rounded up and moved cattle, sorted pairs and yearlings, as well as pull bulls out of the herd. You can crack a bull whip off him with no issues. He has drug calves at numerous brandings. He has been used at ranch ropings as well.
Archie is a finished head horse and solid in the box. He has been used on the heel side and did excellent as well. He has been hauled to local jackpots. Arch has had beginners on him learning to rope and worked perfect.
Archie has been rode in mountainous terrain as well as the flat lands. He is sure footed and goes through water, mud, creeks, thicker bush, over logs nothing phases him. He is calm, sensible, easy going fella that doesn’t get worked up. He will stand tied as long as you need him to, no messing around. He rides the same in a group or on your own doesn’t matter to him. He is the same horse every time you ride him, doesn’t matter how much time off. You can saddle up and just go to work no problems at all. He has been shod but most of the time he’s bare foot. We will be really sad to see Archie go, he will surely be missed, but we have a number of younger horses that need some riding, and we just can’t keep them all.
Archie is up to date on dental (summer 2024), worming, and farrier work.
